Invented in Germany in 1892 as Stern-Halma — "star Halma" — a six-pointed board built for the American game Halma, itself only nine years old. An American toy company sold it from 1928 under the name it is known by now, Chinese Checkers, though the game has no connection to China at all: the name was chosen to sound exotic to buyers.

The object 目的
- Be the first to fill the point of the star directly opposite yours with your own pieces. Nothing is captured and no line counts for anything.
- A side that keeps pieces at home to block still loses once every other cell of the far point is taken.
